Maison Descartes, Amsterdam party report

On the first day of spring, 21 March, ironically the only day of sun as of late, the Maison Descartes (French cultural institution) had a big French bash to ring in spring.

And bash it was! The place was full of French people as well as Québécois (they said they recognised that accent on the mike) and all kinds of other people who could appreciate the free fun.

A bunch of dancers from the roll and roll dance association Gel showed up and did their thing. Thanks!

Olivier, photographer of the people, took lots of pictures with backdrop amidst the dancing chaos to the delight of many people including myself. Thanks to you too!

And a huge thanks to anyone online who spread the word around and made my night a success, you rule!

This iPhone picture may have me doing my thing in the background, but it ironically has the silhouettes of G and S, a wonderful, enthusiastic couple that always come to my parties.

À la prochaine ! Until next time!

Spring is almost in the air!

Printemps

What could be better than ringing in spring with a big, long, fresh flower-clad French set? Not much!

Not only will Maison Descartes, Amsterdam’s French cultural centre be throwing a big bash in the name of spring on Saturday, 21 March, but it’s free!

To make it even sweeter, there will be a special photo booth where you can have your picture taken and printed out set up by Olivier, the people’s photographer and a swinging dance demo by some French-Dutch rock n’ rollers.

Munich party report

Les Princes Chameaux

The Lovers

To celebrate the 9th anniversary of Munich’s monthly French party Tour de France, a big show was held in three spaces at Muffathalle, with Les Princes Chameaux, The Lovers and yours truly (aka DJ Natashka) as special guest DJ. It was a super evening!

The party went on until at least 5 am, as I left around 4:30 and visitor DJ Martin Hemmel of Atomic Cafe fame who came by had just been handed a cocktail and told to stay some more. The other DJs, including Christian and Thomas of the Tour de France, played hits off the four Tour de France compilations in the huge room and I heard resident DJs cranking out some Daft Punk at some point.

Three things never cease to amaze me every time I come to Munich for French music parties: the place is packed with Germans, and not homesick French people. The crowd is quite young, not older people getting all nostalgic. And the music is very different that what I play in Amsterdam, which made my set that much different. I had people thank me, which is always welcome!
