French erotica night with Minimatic

On Friday 27 November, not only is Minimatic coming back to town to spin his wild and crazy French tunes as well as his own floor fillers, but we’re letting the man spin what he spins best: sexy, sultry and suave French erotica. And it’s about time, too! Watch out for an enticing and exciting slide show back when sexy was real and not made of plastic.

Born in Nice, raised in Paris and living in Cognac Minimatic can be found on countless lounge, jazz, remix and what not compilations. His first three singles sold like hot cakes and he knows exactly what DJs want to play because he’s also in their shoes. Christmas has come early (pardon the pun!) and yours truly Natashka will warm up the place (pardon the pun!) at the one of the hottest places in Amsterdam, De Nieuwe Anita.

Yours truly we be working the crowd and DJ La Formule du Baron from Nijmegen will be warming up people’s cognac in the foyer!

Dance Valley 2009 in the Piaggio DJ booth

Cool and scary at the same time, I DJed at Dance Valley 2009 for many reasons. It was so unexpected of me to do so, which is why I said yes as soon as I was asked by the charming Jasper who owns the DJ Piaggio, a three-wheel Italian car that was painted in the colours of that big Dutch beer brand we all know for the occasion. Our setup was surprisingly loud and near the main stage, so we had tons of people check us out first.

The second reason is that I could take one of my best girlfriends for free, and she drove me there, VIP style. That was so much fun!

All the types of dance music, from hardstyle to electro was being played at an acceptable volume. You could listen to all kinds of stuff while sitting on a hill overlooking nature sipping a beverage. Even the food I had was good.

And another reason was being the odd person out: I was playing French techno, hard remixes, 80s, music by friends Minimatic and Laurent & Lewis and I got away with oh so much. The shock factor at playing music with lyrics (I didn’t hear ANYTHING with lyrics the entire day) was enough to make me feel like I kicked ass.

Everything I played was sped up at least 20% and I also played vinyl. The fact that I was a woman got a lot of attention, including a producer’s business card.

Minimatic kicked Amsterdam and got everybody dancing

I booked two gigs with French artist and DJ Minimatic here in Amsterdam and they kicked! His third single “Jazz à gogo” (a remix of the song by France Gall) on Tour Eiffel records (shown in pink here) was given a proper launch. By the time Minimatic was in Amsterdam – as he played Paris just before – he almost ran out of records!

It was a pleasure and I will make sure it happens again. For people who keep asking me what kind of music jerk is or was, you’ll have to come and see for yourselves!

A huge thanks to the new faces we saw and the warm welcome of the best club owners in town. A special thanks to Olivier the photographer (his work here) who took some great party pics and printed them out while you waited.
